Dahlias | Giveaway

Rooted Flowers Dahlia HarvestEach spring we plant one individual tuber. These potato looking fingers grow more within the soil, so that by fall, we can dig them up and divide. One tuber might yield 6 or more new tubers that can then again be planted. This process repeats itself every year.

Rooted Flowers dahlia dividingNothing about harvesting dahlia tubers is short work. It takes us weeks to get everything out of the ground and prepared for winter storage. Every clump is hand dug with a pitchfork, rinsed, cured, divided, and finally, put into storage where they receive daily checks.

Rooted Flowers Dividing Dahlias
We've worked hard over the past year to increase our stock and have a greater supply. A few notable newbies are the Dahlia Heirloom White, Dahlia Black Magic and the queen Dahlia Cafe Au Lait!

Dahlia Heirloom White Dahlia Black Magic Dahlia Cafe Au Lait
Customer favorites include Dahlia Linda's Baby, Dahlia Rock Run Ashley,  Dahlia Peaches N Cream and Dahlia Daisy Duke.

Rooted Flowers Dahlia Linda's Baby
Rooted Flowers Dahlia Favorites
Our favorite fall trio is Dahlia Ivanetti, Dahlia Cornel and Dahlia Cornel Bronze.

Rooted Flowers Dahlia Fall Favorites
Your chance to snag some of these varieties and more is this Saturday, November 5th @ 10 AM EST in the Online Shop. Each order will contain planting instructions and ship (U.S. residents only) early April once the risk of cold damage has passed.

I hope I can add Heirloom White to the mix (and of course, more Ivanetti and Cornell as they were gorgeous this fall).

Good morning! Your flowers are stunning! I have always had a passion for flower arranging. With both kids at college I found myself at loose ends with some free time. I was looking for something that could fulfill my desire to nurture and to bring beauty into the world. I decided to try my hand at growing my absolute favorite flower the Dahlia!! Having no growing experience this was perhaps not the best flower to choose to start with! It has been quite a ride! Lots of ups and downs but in the end it was a perfect choice! I have learned so much this year and have loved the journey, and loved the joy that my flowers bring to myself and others. Next year I will expand the Dahlias. I would love to add Peaches N Cream to my garden. I am also planning on trying tulips and ranunculus, so I have spring blooms as well! Would be thrilled to win dahlia tubers!

2023 will be my third year with a cut flower garden. Every year I learn so many new things about plants and flowers so my list of what to grow is always growing longer. Dahlias have been a customer favorite so expanding on dahlias is actually what I have in mind. They’re just so costly for a small flower farmer that it’s been slow to build up my stock! I love seeing your photos and dreaming of when the dahlias I have now multiply enough to where I can have rows upon rows of beautiful flowers.

The Timeless Charm of Pansies

When I was in my early teens, I worked for a vegetable farm that sold bedding plants in the spring. Every Sunday, you could find me at the “flea market.” It’s equivalent today’s Facebook marketplace but in an open field with each vendor on their 10’ by 10’ plot. I’d be there with wagons full of flowers and a fanny pack selling plants.
