Blooms, Buds, and Busy Days

Life on the farm has been a whirlwind lately, but an absolutely delightful one! The cherry blossoms are bursting into bloom alongside a sea of daffodils, creating a breathtaking sight.

Despite a seemingly milder winter, our bulb crops—like tulips and daffodils—didn't peek their heads any earlier this year. However, everything has fallen right into place for our spring workshops. Over the past few weekends, we've welcomed eager visitors to the farm, teaching them the art of crafting centerpieces and hand-tied bouquets using seasonal elements grown right here on our land.

While we're taking a break from workshops for now, after Mother’s Day, we'll dive headfirst into event season, bringing our farm-fresh flowers to weddings, showers, and other special occasions.

With prom season upon us, our shop has been buzzing with activity as we create these fun, whimsical corsages and boutonnieres. Mary is learning the ropes quickly and will undoubtedly become a valuable asset in no time. I jokingly told her that while some people mow lawns for extra cash, she'll be making corsages and boutonnieres!

This year's ranunculus crop is the best we've ever had, so much so that we're even offering them as standalone bouquets. You can check out our Mother’s Day Shop for more details.

In addition to our usual spring hustle of sowing seeds, planting, and harvesting, we've been diligently documenting all the flowers we grow. It's a special project that we began last year and one that we know will take years to fully develop.

The days are filled with planting, weeding, designing, planning, and wrangling little ones. We have a couple of major projects in the works that I can't wait to share with you all soon. Here's to the hustle of spring—cheers!

Before there were flowers and our farm in Agawam, I was growing asparagus in Hadley. This time of year, locals would start stopping by my little roadside stand, asking if it was time yet for the first spears. For many, the arrival of Hadley’s famous asparagus meant spring had truly begun—so tender you could eat it right out of the field.

Our family farm turns five this season, making this spring even more joyful around the farm! Although accustomed to seasonal cycles on the farm, there’s always one surprising morning when the scritch crunch of my muck boots on frosty grass transitions into soft, squishy footfalls on matted grass clumps the texture of pudding.
