Building Connection through Flowers

Building Connection through Flowers
When I think of a farm, I think of legacy and generational stewards—people whose families have tilled the land for years. But that’s not always the story. Sometimes, a farm represents a new beginning, a fresh chapter in this modern age, and that’s exactly what it became for me.

I was nine months pregnant with Mary, juggling an office job, when I got a text from Albert. He was at a property showing and simply said, “This is it.” Without ever stepping foot on the land myself, I replied, “Go for it.” I trusted his vision completely, knowing that if he saw potential, we could build something beautiful.

market preperation

In March 2019, we took a leap of faith and bought what would become our future farm. But it wasn’t the picture-perfect land you might imagine. Instead of neat rows of crops, we were greeted by a mess of broken trees, decaying plants, and vines choking every corner. It was a blank canvas, wild and overgrown, but I could feel the potential hidden beneath the chaos. It was as if the land had been waiting for someone to bring it back to life.

With baby Mary by our side, we dove in. Clearing the land wasn’t easy—far from it—but each step brought us closer to the dream. We had help from friends and family, and we were forever grateful for every hand that pitched in. By 2020, we were ready for our first growing season, and as the world around us slowed down, our little farm was finally waking up.

Before all this, I was selling cut flowers on the side of the road, trying to make something of my small patch of land while working a full-time office job. I loved seeing people stop to buy something I had grown; it filled my heart with joy. But in a town full of established farms, I felt a pull to do something different, to create an experience that connected people in a deeper way.

That’s when I turned to cut flowers. It started with zinnias and sunflowers—nothing fancy—but they were enough to catch people’s attention. Florists driving by began to stop and cut flowers straight from the field. I knew then that there was something special in this work.

As requests came in for flowers for events, I realized how much power these blooms held. Why rely on far away flowers when we have so much beauty right here? Why not let the seasons guide us? Every flower, every arrangement, could tell a story, connecting people to nature, to each other, and to the moment.

Now, Rooted Flowers has grown beyond what I could have imagined. Every bouquet, every arrangement comes from this land, this valley and is nurtured by local hands, shaped by the seasons. It’s more than just flowers—it’s about creating a connection, celebrating the beauty of what’s real and close to home.

When you choose our flowers, you’re becoming part of that story. You’re supporting a farm that’s committed to sustainable agriculture & floristry, and the belief that beauty can—and should—come from what’s local and in season.

We’re growing something meaningful here, something that brings people together, and I couldn’t be more grateful to share it with you.
