Mariage is soft rose-pink, with layers of petals that open into a rounded, peony-like flower. Its gentle color is lovely on its own or tucked among deeper pinks for a little contrast.

• Type: Double early
• Bloom season: Early to mid spring

Planting and care

Plant in fall in a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Set bulbs pointed end up, about two to three times their height deep, with at least twice their width between bulbs. Store bulbs in a cool, dry place until planting. Outdoor bloom timing varies with climate and weather.

For cutting, harvest when the bud shows color but has not fully opened.
