Avantgarde starts in pale lemon and cream, softening toward ivory as its many petals open. This early double tulip brings a little of that full, peony-like look to spring, in colors that are easy to pair with almost anything.

Planting and care
Plant in fall in a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Set bulbs pointed end up, about two to three times their height deep, with at least twice their width between bulbs. Store bulbs in a cool, dry place until planting. Outdoor bloom timing varies with climate and weather.
For cutting, harvest when the bud shows color but has not fully opened.
